Switzerland surrenders Azerbaijani bloggers and journalists living in Europe

The Swiss prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit against Azerbaijani bloggers and journalists living in Europe. Afgan Mukhtarli, a journalist living in Europe, commented on this information in the „Difficult question“ program of Turan news agency.

According to him, a lawsuit was based on the complaint from SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan). For a long time, the president of the company Rovnag Abdullayev and his relative Anar Alizadeh have been filing lawsuits against bloggers and journalists living in European countries

This lawsuit has been initiated against blogger Fuad Agayev, who published exposing materials about the activities of the SOCAR leadership. However, the case also includes the head of Turan TV Ganimat Zahidov, editor of Time TV Media Group Fikrat Huseynli, manager of Time TV Emil Jafarov, as well as bloggers Azer Kazimzade, Orkhan Agayev, Gabil Mammadov and Muhammad Mirzali.

SOCAR’s complaint, among other things, contains a demand for the arrest and extradition of these people to Azerbaijan.

According to Mukhtarli, this is because these persons have repeatedly published exposing materials about corruption in SOCAR and that the head of state himself is at the head of this corruption system.

According to the journalist, the Swiss prosecutor’s office is conducting the case in a biased manner with numerous violations. He explains this by the fact that the Swiss government is succumbing to pressure from one of the country’s major investors –

SOCAR Trading (annual turnover over 35 billion euros).
